WRITING PORTFOLIO

NEW CONTENT FOR WRITING CENTER WEBSITE

I developed new content for the welcome page of the Cedarville Writing Center's website (current site). First, I analyzed the audience and created the marketing goal of addressing Writing Center myths to increase awareness on campus. I then analyzed the old site's content, deciding what was effective and what was ineffective for the users. I created new sections to specifically address the marketing goal, wrote new content for the website, and developed a new layout for the page. I finally put it all together in Canva, and I plan to present this updated page to the director of the Writing Center to implement this on our actual site.

BLOG POST FOR FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL

As the Development intern for Family Research Council (FRC), I wrote a blog post for the FRC blog about critical race theory in the US military. I researched the topic, developed an outline, and finally wrote a rough draft of the piece. I then submitted the draft to FRC's blog editor, who suggested ways for me to improve the piece. After implementing his edits and making my own, I submitted the final draft for publication. After it was published on the FRC blog, the Christian Post picked up my post and published it as an op-ed

BLOG POST FOR PROFESSIONAL WRITING BLOG

I wrote this blog post for the Write Major, a blog to increase awareness for the Professional Writing and Information Design (PWID) major at Cedarville. The audience I wrote toward was mainly prospective students and parents. The purpose of this blog post was to market PWID as having valuable classes, a close community of writers, and quality professors. For this blog post, I won the award for "Best Write Major Blog Post of 2021" during our PWID summit.

CREATIVE MARKETING PROJECT

I wrote and designed this calling card as a creative marketing project. The goal was to choose an organization and create a marketing piece to represent the brand of the organization in a creative, unusual way. I chose the small clothing business Linennaive to market their new Fall clothing line. Because the clothing line was inspired from Victorian fashion, I created this Victorian-style calling card to best represent the clothing style. I analyzed Linennaive's brand, looking at their values, personality, and communication themes, and I developed the phrases on the front and back of the card to market the clothing line in a creative, brand-consistent way. I created this calling card using Canva.
